Let The Ideas Flow Freely
I was pleasant surprised that people did the homework. And to top it off there wasn't a bad idea in the bunch. I will go into detail about the ideas in another post but for now I wanted to thank everyone for participating so far. Some of the common themes revolved around the shared history, identity - particularly when it comes to self identification and "invisible" people.

Thanks Kendal for facilitating the discussion. It was fun listening and visualizing the ideas each of the artist presented. The creative juices were flowing. The process also taught me something about myself, about VI culture and our community. I also thought about the people that should be a part of the project and what their responses might be. I'm inspired. I'm also inspired to actually try to do an individual piece! HA!
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work everyone!
Thanks Kendal

Big Band-Aid: to commemorate 40th Anniversary of Earth Day 1970 in which I participated by sticking big band-aids on Fifth Avenue.
ALTHO one of my dreams is "Put it Back" it could be done with projectors. Supposedly there are actions to restore Durant Castle already underway.. When I came to the island in 1972, most of the old buildings did have "scenes" in the windows as you drove by. They were not ruins.

I have mostly been interested in the process of how a project like this is developed and what different people bring to the discussion. So far it has not disappointed and anyone involved is beneifitting at least as much as I feel I am and so it is with regret that I will not be able to attend this afternoon's meeting.
